Hi Anurag. Barrett from wills band of the week here. I think about death a lot, always wondering how much time I've got, whether I'll be satisfied with the life I've led once it's about to end. It's a wonder to me that old people aren't sitting around crying all the time, knowing the end is near. I guess you come to terms with it. Anyway, I'll try to imagine myself in my last moments and see if I come up with an epiphany. Cheers!

Bill Carrol sounds like he's trying to imitate an angry Limbaugh with the overblown loudmouth style now that he's here in L.A..Did he do the Rush impression in Canada? The real winner in this is Scotland, where he's from originally who got spared of this stale rightwing chatter.

Hey Desi,

I gratuitously thank you for being inspired by my article. While I agree that the music industry has changed sooo much that there's almost a deluge of music to have one stand out, I still think the mainstream culture will continue.

For instance, even though Kings of Leon has been around forever and has/had a legion of loyal followers, to the mainstream, they truly exploded out of nowhere. KOL was refreshing to see the underground have more of a mainstream ear...but I also think that people like you and me will always gravitate towards the talented artist that is just coming up. Our ears crave fresh sounds.

As for what will come in the 10's? No idea. But I bet it will be distinctively ours come 2020. And that's worth waiting for. ;-)

Thanks again!

Yeah, my favourite was Brett too. Just loved the passion in his eyes and his unflinching attitude to portray a flawed yet a great character!

Anurag,

I didnt know you were a Sherlock Holmes fan... I just love the John Hawkesworth's series and have watched the episodes so many times. Jeremy Brett played the nuances of Holmes character so well that you cant help but even like the oddities that you mentioned. What strikes me as most appealing though is the 'very english' old-world charm.

Anurag,

I am speechless after reading your post. There is one thing to experience death after a traumatic accident but my interpretation of your surreal encounter is that you are on the verge of some radical personal change.

Since I cant offer you any advice on the same without a similar experience let me quote some great people on what they think of death:

The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man who lives fully is prepared to die at any time. ~Mark Twain

The tragedy of life is not death, but what we let die inside us while we live. ~Norman Cousins

For death is no more than a turning of us over from time to eternity. ~William Penn

It is not death that a man should fear, but he should fear never beginning to live. ~Marcus Aurelius

The message from the quotes is exactly what you also found out for yourself and even more important is to love and to profess it often to those dear to you.
